The cone beam  computed tomography is a relatively new 3-D Imaging technology which has been specially developed for the imaging of teeth and jaws. The introduction of CBCT has shifted maxillofacial imaging from 2-D panaromic radiography to volumetric approach in terms of technical data acquisition, reconstruction , image displayed and image interpretation. This technology provide us stunning 3-D details for imaging of TMJ , maxillary sinus, nerves, Osteomeatal complex and even ears (ENT). The CBCT has demonstrated advantages when more invasive treatment approaches are considered in terms of decision making and cost benefits, lower dose of radiation to the patient. The aim of this paper is to acquaint with the various form of this technology and its potential applications.
