Alison Doherty

Dental Therapist

Alison Doherty qualified as a dental therapist in 1982 at the New Cross School for Dental Therapists and then gained a diploma in Oral Health Education in 1983 and her teaching diploma 1988. Having been married to a dentist, with whom she managed 3 general practices, she has a wealth of experience of community, hospital, general and specialist practices both as a dental therapist, dental nurse and practice manager.
Alison has been the Head of Teaching at Tempdent since 2003. Her job role in that time has seen many changes in the ever changing world of dentistry and education. Principally managing the standards and timetables for the primary dental nursing qualifications (National Diploma and Advanced Apprenticeship) for both classroom based and online, blended learning, she also manages and teaches the post registration courses in Oral Health Education and Radiography. In addition to this, she also constructs and delivers lectures to all dental professionals in a variety of CPD topics for core subjects as well as bespoke subjects for any practice needs. Currently, her work is transferring the post-registration qualifications and CPD to the Tempdent Learning Academy platform.
