Aim : The overall goal of this presentation is to provide dental professionals with an insight on different soft-tissue laser procedures using Diode laser that will make their practice more convenient and uneventful.
Dental lasers are used for multiple dental procedures, including soft-tissue procedures. Soft-tissue lasers are available at varying wavelengths and watt and can be used for procedures that would otherwise be performed using a scalpel, or possibly an electrosurgical unit. Diode laser enables safe and effective removal of soft tissue when guidelines are followed and can be used for Depigmentation procedures, Gingival Troughing, Operculectomy, Frenectomy, Frenotomy, Vestibuloplasty, Ankyloglossia, Laser Lip Repositioning surgery, Removal of Soft-Tissue Lesions and other Periodontal Procedures.
It offers patient with advantages like less pain, less need of anesthetic injections and sutures, low chances of post-operative edema and at the same time provides clinician with bloodless surgical field and better patient compliance. The use of lasers in dentistry has contributed to an increase in patient comfort and uneventful healing, as well as offered safe and effective treatment and should be used in commonplace in everyday dentistry.
